Life dedicated to healing
The life story of this seventy-one -year-old is best started from 1974. Namely that is the year Dinko Petković found himself on a life crossroads and decided to dedicate the rest of his life to healing, principally to the illnesses that traditional medicine had been unable to find a cure or help for.
This was thirty years ago in Australia and his first patient was John Cox, who had spent his whole life suffering from strong migraines, pains in his muscles and joints (Spondylitis). After three months he wrote a letter of thanks: “ it is with great pleasure that I can say how much Dinko has done for me and my health, for the first time in my life I can enjoy myself in free movement with pain”. The Australian press immediately noted this ( Advertiser 13.03.1975 , Advertiser 21.08.1975 , Sunday daily 06.02.1979) which was a acknowledgement for the completion of a promise which he made to himself when he was thirty, after the death of his mother, who had suffered for five years from strong pains and medicine could not help her.
“I always wished, says Dinko, to explore the discomforts of people so that I would be able to help people as my mother was ill. I think that God wanted this too, and thanks to him, along with my effort, I have come today to so much knowledge, experience and success”
Although in the beginning he mostly used the knowledge of old rural medicine, which his grandmother and father practised, very quickly this natural given naturopath came to perfecting his own method in which the main role is, the special selection of healing plants and his processing. It is also necessary to mention that Dinko Petković found and distinguished the suitable healing plants for every illness alone .
His departure to Spain in 1982 brought one great advancement in his therapeutic meaning, namely in this Mediterranean climate, extremely rich in healing plants, he succeeded in widening his profession and effectiveness of his therapies. The media could not ignore this fact, whether written (Las Provincias 31.05.1987, Las Provincias 23.01.1988, Las Provincias 29.01.1989, Las Provincias 29.06. 1991 and others) radio or television. Many ill people, who had lost hope of becoming healthy again due to a serious illness, returned to a normal life. Among these were M. Chaparro suffering from the Marfan syndrome, A. Carnerno after a stroke, R. Gisbert with arteriosclerosis, M.J. Sanchis with a crooked spine, Carmelo Rubio with hypertension, Ivan Weiss with osteoarthritis in the hands, P. Sabater a diabetic with gangrene in the legs and many other people. So over time, the wish to help people turned into an art, because as I often say "a human being is a beautiful and complex creature, and it is my duty to try to bring this to the best expression” .
In his birthplace Dinko's work was followed with interest, and in 1991, publicly through the media (Slobodna Dalmacija 22.01.1991.) he was invited to return to his homeland and support was expressed that this kind of knowledge could be passed on to others. This would have fulfilled his lifelong wish, but due to the war he had to wait. In 1997 after forty years, Dinko Petković returned to Croatia , where he decided to stay. As in every country, where Dinko showed his ability for helping people with very critical health problems, the newspapers in Croatia followed his work and success (Dubrovački Vjesnik, Arena, Moja Sudbina, Moja Tajna...). Two years after his return to his homeland he was included in the Encyclopaedia of Alternative Medicine where he was among the 100 best Croatian therapists, and from the year 2000 he has been entered into “The Golden Book” of prominent Croatian craftsmen and an independent member of the office for business investigation.
Naturopath Dinko Petković is a full member of the Croatian Society for Natural, Energetic and Spiritual Medicine (HUPED), and in the frame of the 4 th Croatian congress on the partnership of classic and unconventional medicine in Zagreb 2003 he presented a documentary of his “30 years of successful work with healing plants ” which provoked a big interest and praise from all the delegates.
